We have just returned after a wonderful stay at Church House. The location is just fabulous and the house just lovely. Walks galore on the doorstep, great for runners too. Visits to the Woolpack Inn and Boot Inn ( both walkable ) great and a real treat. The local steam Ratty is great fun too. Diddy - can't thank you enough, the house is very special and beautiful. Thank you for a special family time - we will be back ! Still much to explore and enjoy !
Great place to stay, all you need under one roof ... Great walks from the doorstep, walked left from the cottage to Boot, passed the two local pubs and then followed the old railway to The Green, stopped at the King George the IV Inn and back by the river. Next day followed the river the other way and called at the Woolpack for a drink on the way back. Great Sunday lunch cooked in the wood stove when we got back!
Had a fantastic weekend at this unique property, it dates from 1730 and has undergone a fantastic renovation keeping as much of the original interior as possible whilst,throwing in 21 century amenities And the location and views... really need to be seen to be believed and regardless of the weather sitting in the glass addition to the building is a pleasure.
Just spent another fantastic weekend with friends at church house. This was our third stay at the house and we all love it - the house is amazing I can't recommend it enough from the living room with the huge open fire - store room full of logs provided to the separate TV room for the men to watch sport so the girls don't have too ! Fully equipped kitchen with everything you need and great conservatory dinning room the house is just fabulous we will be going back for the fourth time next year.
Sheer bliss! The weekend, the surroundings and most of all the beautiful cottage – a stunning mix of contemporary and original. Absolute perfection we all felt very sad to leave this magnificent part of the world. The food at the Brook House Inn was great too. Thank you so, so much.
In one word – marvellous! Cottage top, Brook Inn, the many walks we've made were amazing. We will recommend this place certainly.
Fabulous place – lovely blend of old, new and interesting. Great walks from door. Small details such as games for rainy days and the welcoming wine made a difference.

An amazing property, a privilege to stay in such a piece of history. Everything perfect, even the weather. Only bad point is we didn't book for two weeks! Hope to be back soon. Very well done.

Lovely time. Climbed to the top of Scafell, survived Hard Knott Pass. Fab walk to the local waterfalls. Beautiful house – wine by the fire – FAB!
